Cronos misses revenue expectations, hit by cannabis glut

Cronos Group Inc fell short of quarterly revenue estimates on Tuesday, as the Canadian producer’s revenue per gram of cannabis sold fell in a market suffering from surplus supply.

The cannabis industry in the country is facing a supply glut as companies ramp up production. But retail sales have failed to offset the surplus, even though there has been a rise in the number of weed stores and the sale of cannabis-derivative products has been allowed in Canada.

'The tribe has taken over': the Native Americans running Las Vegas' only cannabis lounge

A couple seated at a high top table smoked a joint, while six tourists in a circular booth nearby drank THC-infused beer and reviewed the flower menu. It was the morning of the Southern Paiute’s traditional hunt, when tribal youth learn to shoot and harvest mule deer as adult “providers”, but Benny Tso, 43, was stuck in the Las Vegas Paiute’s new cannabis tasting room, taking meetings and making calls.

Five Northeastern governors team up on cannabis legalization policy, but political turmoil may sully the deal

Five Democratic states are poised to create a pot lovers' paradise, legalizing marijuana from Pennsylvania to Connecticut.

But political infighting — especially among Democrats — could conspire to kill it.

Democratic lawmakers in New York and New Jersey are arguing over criminal justice reforms. In Connecticut, powerful religious leaders torpedoed legalization once before. And all five states must find common ground on taxes to keep up with Massachusetts, where marijuana is already legal.

Vaping illness spurs calls for federal marijuana changes

Marijuana advocates are seizing on the recent outbreak of vaping illnesses to renew calls for clear federal rules on cannabis.

Federal health officials have pointed to black market THC products as a likely culprit of a mysterious vaping illness that has sickened more than 2,000 people across the country and caused at least 39 deaths.

Advocates argue federal marijuana regulation, including changing rules to allow more and better research, will make people safer.

What new federal hemp rules mean for Idaho

BOISE — Attorneys representing a Colorado-based company suing the Idaho State Police for seizing a shipment of hemp in January are pointing to new federal rules governing hemp production and transport to bolster their legal arguments.

The new rules also mean the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office will not prosecute people who are transporting hemp grown under 2014 and 2018 federal legislation in states where it is legal to do so, provided there is full compliance with the rules and proper documentation.

When the bride-to-be is dreaming of a cannabis wedding

I spent the first hour of the Cannabis Wedding Expo just trying to envision my 91-year-old grandfather learning about marijuana strains from a budtender at my wedding next year.

Pop-Pop, as I call him, is a lot of things. He's playful and easygoing. He’s inventive and adventurous. But a cannabis consumer he is not, and the wedding of his first grandchild seems like an unlikely place to persuade him to smoke a joint.
