Cannabis companies are “between a rock and a hard place” when it comes to job cuts, one analyst believes, because it might be hard for them to figure out how and where to reduce operational expenses since they’re operating in a rapidly evolving industry.

“Sure, if you had a time machine, you could go back and say, ‘I think I over-hired and I shouldn’t have done that,’” said Andrew Carter, a cannabis analyst at Stifel Financial Corp.

Legal cannabis now supports 243,700 full-time American jobs

How many jobs are there in the legal marijuana industry? Leafly’s annual Cannabis Jobs Report found 243,700 full-time-equivalent (FTE) jobs supported by legal cannabis as of January 2020.

That’s a 15% year-over-year increase. Over the past 12 months the expanding industry has created 33,700 new jobs nationwide, making legal marijuana the fastest-growing industry in America.

Degree in Cannabis Will Be Offered By Colorado University

Colorado State University-Pueblo is set to offer a "rigorous" degree in cannabis, winning state approval for the program on Friday.

According to The Denver Post, the "Cannabis, Biology and Chemistry" course will be available for undergraduates wishing to study the science needed to succeed in the cannabis industry, starting this fall. The program has been described as similar to a double major in biology and chemistry, and features a lab licensed to grow industrial hemp so students may work with cannabidiol (CBD) derived from the plants.
