Cannabis has been legal in Canada for more than a year now, and according to industry players, there are still some kinks in the system.

Earlier this month, the Cannabis Council of Canada sent a letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau urging the federal government to consider recommendations to relieve “pain points” in the legal pot framework.

At AgraPharm LLC’s warehouse in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, the scent of cannabis is potent.

“What you're smelling today is about only a third of what it really smells like when we first harvest the crop,” said AgraPharm’s CEO Ed Santillan.

The hemp drying inside was harvested in October. There are rows and rows of it, stalks as big as eight feet long, hanging from orange plastic netting secured to the ceiling.

Leaders from around Florida met Tuesday afternoon to discuss the state’s budding industry: cannabis.

Fifty influential leaders from the state discussed the growing concern over medical marijuana at the Florida Priorities Summit on Tuesday at the University of Miami.

Such is the case facing Canada’s cannabis industry. The federal government currently requires that all cannabis products carry excise stamps — proof the appropriate taxes have been paid by the licensed producer — like those attached to tobacco packaging. These stamps are also unique to each province and territory.
